Tor Browser
For most people Tor Browser is the whole job. It bundles the Tor connection with a hardened browser, so an onion link just opens. You do not need to set up Tor separately or install anything else.
Get it from the real place
Download Tor Browser only from torproject.org. Not from an ad in a search result, not from an app store copy, not from a file someone sent you. The first time you install it, check the signature the way the Tor Project shows. That one step rules out a tampered copy, which is the only realistic way the browser itself gets you into trouble.
Turn the security up
Open the shield menu and set the level to Safest. That switches off scripts across every site and closes off a whole class of attacks that rely on running code in your browser. BlackOps works fine at Safest, so there is no reason to run it lower.
Open a verified link
Copy a link from the working links and paste it into the bar. Do not type a fifty-six character address by hand. When the login loads, read the address it shows you and match it to your bar. If they do not match, close the tab and start again with a freshly copied link.
